His research interests include: indigeneity, language ideology, language revitalization, colonalism, ethnic studies, political economy, and ethnographic film. His academic writing can be found on PaperPile or Academia.edu. A list of his courses can be found on the separate syllabi website.
Kerim is a founding member of the anthropology blog anthro{dendum} (formerly Savage Minds) which _American Anthropologist_ called “the central online site of the North American anthropological community.”
His anthropology blogging also appears in Chinese on the Guava Anthropology website. He also maintains a personal blog, Keywords, and a microblog.

Kerim is also on the board of Vimukta, a non-profit organization working on behalf of India's Denotified and Nomadic Tribes.
